The Association of Recruitment Consultancies (ARC) will be holding a seminar on the umbrella market consultation in conjunction with HM Treasury and the Employment Agency Inspectorate on 27th July in London. The seminar will be hosted by Lawspeed.
The consultation is controversial in that it proposes the transfer of an umbrella company’s liability to employment businesses that work with the umbrella. This is not likely to appeal to employment businesses and one consequence could be the demise of the umbrella industry, so resulting in a sea change of operations for recruitment supply. However nothing is set in stone and the consultation indicates that the government is open to ideas.
