To win the ear of ministers you have to belong to a trade body.

That was the message from Jake Berry MP, addressing an audience at the Association of Recruitment Consultancies’ (ARC) summer social at the House of Commons.

The Conservative MP for Rossendale and Darwen is a key adviser to Housing Minister, Grant Shapps. Jake Berry said: “As a former lawyer I never found my own job, so I’m sold on the fantastic work that recruitment consultancies do.

He added; “I have to stress how important it is that you are a member of a trade body. Housing developers are always asking me if they can get a meeting with the housing minister. But if the minister spent all his time meeting developers, we wouldn’t make any progress with our housing policies. The minister concentrates on meeting trade bodies, which are the real effectors of change.”

Jake Berry went on to conclude his welcome to ARC members saying; “Just look at what ARC has done for the recruitment industry through all its work on the Agency Workers Regulations. So keep on supporting the ARC and keep on supporting the economy.”
