BEIS Research on the experience of agency workers in the UK

We have been approached by Employment Agency Standards, as part of the department of BEIS to ask for assistance with a research project exploring the experiences of agency workers in the UK. The request, as detailed below, is asking for ARC members to pass on a communication to your agency workers, in order that they can complete a short survey. An email template to send to agency workers is below.

BEIS request

BEIS have commissioned IFF Research to conduct an important piece of exploratory research into the working circumstances and experience of agency workers in the UK. The study aims to understand the experiences of agency workers, levels of satisfaction and wellbeing and awareness of their entitlements e.g. in terms of working patterns and leave.

We are hoping that you will be able to help us engage your agency workers in the research. Your assistance would help to build a strong evidence base for current and future policy making, ensuring government policy is better able to support agency workers and organisations like yours.

What will it involve and how can I help?

The research will involve a 15-20 minute online survey. Ideally, you would disseminate the survey to all of your agency workers. By this, we mean agency workers who are contracted to your organisation but who you place temporarily with a hirer. IFF would provide you with everything you need, essentially an email template with a link to the online survey which you would then send on.

What to do next?

If you are happy to be involved, please use the email template for you to send the survey to your agency workers.

Please contact Jenny Hull at IFF Research (Jenny.Hull@iffresearch.com) to nominate a key contact for your organisation to liaise about the finer details of the process and next steps.

Data protection and GDPR

Taking part in the research is voluntary and participants are able to withdraw at any point.

The data collected will be stored securely by IFF and analysed anonymously, which means that no names will be attached to it. Any personal contact details will be destroyed after use and will not be passed to any other organisation, including BEIS.

Many thanks in advance for your help.
