Controversial EU-imposed rules such as the working-time directive and agency workers regulations are set to be reconsidered.

Some European employment laws are expected to come under renewed scrutiny and pressure as William Hague reviews their impact on UK businesses. Aides to Conservative cabinet ministers have also suggested that the next Conservative manifesto will include plans to renegotiate the UK’s relationship with the EU, and put any new arrangements to a referendum. Hague has alluded to “disadvantages such as too much interference, too much bureaucracy and too many decisions made at European level.” David Cameron however, has urged campaigners to be ‘patient’.
